Building on its worldwide acceptance, the MK Series has been extensively upgraded with cutting-edge enhancements to its active, analog and digital controls,
delivering outstanding EMI disturbance cancellation in a broadband manner for highly sensitive instruments. The MK4 incorporates
IDE’s unique feedback control engineering.
The MK 4 is designed around an IDE custom-configured Helmholtz Cage of 6 sides with side lengths up to 4m. The coils are fabricated using 26 conductor cables with solid state connector boards to connect all 6 coil pairs in series. The standard Helmholtz configuration is 80mm square, with extruded aluminum channels, floor mounted, surrounding the instrument. (Room mounted cages are available). Once tuned, the MK4 system will adapt to environmental field change. The MK4 has diagnostic capabilities through connections on the control panel for ease of system operation verification. It can be tuned to the specific environment using the hyperterminal of a standard laptop.

A signal is fed through the proprietary IDE MK 4 controller to a compensation coil, producing counter-acting electro-magnetic fields. These compensation fields create a minimized effective field at the sensor site:

The quasi-DC disturbances that the IDE MK 4 system effectively blocks are typically rated below 20Hz. The AC disturbances attenuated by IDE’s MK 4 EMI Cancellation System vary in a periodic or cyclical manner. The MK4 system reduces both AC and DC electromagnetic field disturbances using a single sensor.
